Mount Monroe and Mount Jefferson (#48!) – January 28, 2014

I really wanted to finish my NH 4Ks before heading back to California, but the weather was not looking like it was going to cooperate during my last week in NH. The forecast predicted “Damaging Winds” early in the week with a tiny respite of downgraded “Windy” for Thursday. We opted to give Thursday a try with little expectation to hike to both peaks. Jeff, our leader up Madison, offered to hike with me to finish my final peaks, #47 and #48, on Monroe and then Jefferson with the bonus peak of Mount Clay along the way. Amazingly, the day started out with no wind and very little wind all day despite the weather report that morning which increased the predicted wind speed to “Very Windy”. The sun shined all day for a most perfect hike. Thanks to Jeff for hiking with me all the way to Mt Jeff!
