Mount Tecumseh – February 3, 2013

Better to climb Mount Tecumseh in winter rather than summer because it’s a long drive for a short hike and winter hiking is far more interesting, imo. The weather was relatively warm (20 degrees to start and 12 degrees at the peak) so I brought Java along for this 5 mile round trip hike. I parked at the Waterville Valley ski area along with the throngs of downhillers – this place is a zoo!

This hike itself is short but a relentless climb and fairly steep in spots. Java was a real trooper though I had to carry her across all stream crossings, and there are several – something she was not willing to do on her own. That was just as well because any water on her paws would freeze.
